Due to the many items being sold we recommend that you price
competitively. A good basic guide is to price 1/3 to 1/2 of the
original price, depending on the name brand and condition of item.
Keep
in mind the quality, name brand, and condition of your items.
Think carefully before you price your items and price reasonably.
·
We have many shoppers who come during the ½ price sale just looking
for the red tagged ½ price items. Price as many of your items as
possible at ½ price for the most sales!
·
If you are planning on donating unsold items it would be a good idea
to go ahead and price in red to give your items an extra chance to
sell during the sale!
·
Typically, we have an abundance of infant and small baby items so
remember and price to sell
(You may want to price them cheaper if you want them to sell).
·
Spending a little "extra" time getting your items ready will mean
more Money for you. Present them at their best for more $$$ for
you!
·
Clean, Ironed, Starched and fresh smelling clothing sells better.
(Shoppers notice the neatness of items and will purchase the items
that look the best on the rack.)
·
Close buttons, snap snaps and zip zippers. (It makes the clothing
look better and shoppers are able to see that all buttons, snaps,
zippers are in working order.)
·
Sets tend to sell better than separates, if possible match your
separates up. (Pair up a matching top and pair of shorts, blouse
and skirt, etc...)
·
Do not write on both sides of the index card. If you make a mistake
please use a new card. If you take your items to another sale,
please re-do the cards because not all sales use the same system.
(If a card has two different consignor numbers then it is confusing
to the cashier and could result in lost sales for you.)
·
Remove stains from items (See hints below.)
·
Mend or repair any loose hems, buttons, etc. (Shoppers look items
over very carefully.)
·
Make sure all furniture, equipment and toys are clean. (A little
soap and water goes a long way in the appearance of items and they
will sell for more $.)
·
Items with all of the pieces attached, sell much better and for more
money for you! (Place small loose pieces in a zip lock baggie, you
may want to tape the top of the bag to secure the pieces.)
·
Puzzles are easily packaged by wrapping in saran wrap and then
sealing with packing tape on the back. (This keeps all the pieces
together!.)

Make sure batteries are included (The dollar stores sell batteries
for $1.) Shoppers want to make sure the items they are purchasing
are in working order.

Our all time favorite is Greased Lightening (sold with household
cleaners). It has worked wonders for all three of us! Just spray
on your stain (DON’T be alarmed when clothing changes color, it will
return to original color during wash), let it sit for a while and
then wash as usual. Most stains will come out in the wash.
Difficult stains may require spraying a couple of times.
·
Carbona Stain Remover- (many solutions for different types of
fabric).
·
Mother's Miracle – use for spit up, blood, urine…
·
Biz -Must soak clothing with large amount Biz. Great for stained
shoelaces and cuffs.
·
Goop -Good for Grease stains, apply, let sit and wash as usual.
·
HOT soapy water -Good for water-based stains- punch, kool-aid, jello
etc….
·
Clorox Bleach Pen – Be careful, it will bleach out colored fabrics.
·
Bleach and tooth brush (small stains on white).
·
Alcohol and cotton swab- can clean fuses and switches on motorized
Power Wheels and such. Will also remove adhesive stickers off of
some items.
·
Oops - latex paint remover - great for getting all kinds of stains,
marks, and stickers off plastic toys. If the toy is made of thin
plastic, test a small area before cleaning. On most thick plastic
such as Little Tikes toys, Oops will take off scratches, scuffs,
crayon, pen, pencil, etc. On stubborn marks, use steel wool. Will
also take crayon off chalkboards without damaging the finish. Wear
rubber gloves.
·
Oxyclean- It works great on ALL stains, even some which have been
set in with the dryer. Use it as a soak (anywhere from 1-6 hours
depending on stain) or as a booster for a batch of laundry. It is
good for all colors, but you will want to soak darks separate from
lights...they do bleed by nature.
